Prom!

by Dominick Molina

Prom is a eighth grade celebration that the eighth graders have every year. Our prom theme this year is space. Ninety percent of students think that we should re-vote for prom. Ninety percent of students do not like the fact that space is going to be our prom theme. Ten percent of students think that space is gonna be like rave. Well they're wrong! Prom is going to have space ships, and little planets hanging from the roof. That's nothing like rave! The prom committee people made 400 invitations. The invitations are black, and have silver and purple stars. On the back of the invitations is a paper that the parents have to sign. The paper tells the parents to drop off the students at 7 pm, and pick the students up at 10 pm. No later! Students must have their inventations to get in prom. So don't forget your invitations, eighth graders!

April Fools Day Orgin

By: Melanie Camacho
The Orgin of April fools day is still uncertain. Some People say it’s a certain celebration related to the turn of the seasons, but that’s only one theory. Others are: April fools started in the 1500's when the Gregorian calendar took over from Julian. People who forgot to change the calendar and celebrated new years on the 1st of April (the wrong date) were teased as April fools. Many believe this is the arrival of spring when nature '' fools'' mankind with weather. The last theory is an end of winter celebration. Earlier the Ancient cultures including the Romans and the Hindus celebrated, new years day around April first.Today, April fool is not a holiday but observes humor. People sometimes call April fools "all fools day" Some people have Aphrilophobia a fear of April fools day. April fools day is celebrated playing hoaxes and practical jokes on April first. Jokes only last until noon. Someone who plays a trick after noon is called an April fool and will call bad luck. The common prank is of course to make someone run a fools errand like checking for a missing button or open zipper. To be a good Prankster you must be a cool person and have good timing. Other pranks are looking for things that don’t exist, playing pranks on family, friends and trying to get people to believe in ridiculous things.April fools day is celebrated in U.S, England, France, Scotland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Germany, and Norway. In Scotland April fools is called an April qowk. In England a fool is called a gob. France calls the victim of the hoax an April fish.
Some of the best known pranks in recent years were mounted by advertising agencies. Taco bell ran a full page in The New York Times saying they purchased the Liberty bell and would rename it Taco Liberty bell. Burger King pulled off a similar prank announcing the roll out of its left handed whopper. The internet hoaxes announce that every computer connected to the World Wide Web must be turned off for internet cleaning day for a 24 hour time frame.
