Cafeteria Mess!

by Kevin Chavez

So far in school everybody has been behaving very well. Our teachers are very proud of us. But there is just one problem that all the students are having. The Cafeteria is a MESS! This is a big issue and the principals want it fixed.

When the students first go into the cafeteria for lunch, it is very clean. By the time we are done, it is a very big mess. We leave trash on the floor and even on the tables. I think it's pretty nasty. Mrs. Kingery said during an interview that we should eat like we were at home and clean up after ourselves. How many of us throw our trash on the kitchen floor after we're done eating at home?

Mrs. Kingery put up a big paper with all three of our grade levels on it. Every time she picks up a piece of paper or trash, she puts a tally mark on the paper. Every five tallies, she takes one minute off our behavior event time. If you're leaving trash in the cafeteria, then somebody is picking up after you and not being lazy. Nobody wants a trashy school. Pick up after yourself!

This is a good story, Kevin. I'm glad that you and the school newspaper have takent the initiative to bring it out in the open and take a stand. You're absolutely right. Your school administration is not happy about the mess in the cafeteria. But I for one am pleased that you chose to talk about this. I also commend you for doing whatever you can with your class to set a good example for the underclassmen at CRMS. They really do look up to the 8th graders so see what is acceptable and what is not. You are school leaders and should accept your responsibility to provide good examples.

Hey you got a good point. We are eighth graders now we should know better and the sixth and seventh graders are looking up to us so this is a good advice for us eighth graders.Pick up after yourself.

I think you are right. It isn't the teacher's job to pick up after everyone. You made a good point when you asked if we just throw trash on the floor after we're done eating at home. This was a good topic to talk about because it is a big problem. The 8th graders are probably the messiest, and it's our job to clean up after ourselves! It only takes a minute to throw it away. That was a really good article!!

She takes time off our behavior event? I didn't no this. But his is true we should pick up after our selfs its gross going to a table with trash on it. It would be like going to a resturant with trash on your table. Thats just not right. The behavior event use that as inspiration. lol

Wow, Kevin that was pretty good. I think that it was a good idea to write about this because it has gotten bad for all grades! Also, the younger students look up to us, so we should all just pick up after ourselves. Like Mr. Gasse says, "Our mommas don't live here, so why should we leaving messes?"

Thats a good story Kevin because I see the same kids every day that don't clean up and Ms.Hougin Dotson telling them every day to clean up I think that we should start and help clean up.

This is a very nice short and right to it article. It gets right to the point. I'm glad he wrote on this subject it is a big problem for all grades and I would hate to have an even shorter behavoir event. That's a good connection between your house and the cafeteria. Very informative, straight forward and getting to the point. Perfect to get someone's attention and to tell them how they can help.

as eighth graders, we should know how to pick up ourselves.
our school is giving us food and we are disrespecting the staff members, who work hard, by leaving our trash all over the cafeteria.
